A couple years back now I hit the random earring jackpot! I discovered an etsy store that put together themed 'mystery boxes' of crazy earrings and jewellery. I got in contact with them to see if they would make an earring specific 'mystery box' for me. After a short survey to find of what things I like and my earring preferences, things were underway and I eagerly awaited the mysterious earrings. I was quite pleased with the new additions to my collection (more on the others later!)
Included were an awesome pair of Alien Earrings! They are a little on the heavy side but heaps of fun to wear.
For this photo I wanted to photograph the aliens 'flying' in space. I couldn't find any space pictures lying around in any books I own so I made good use of my laptop. To make it 'fly' I just used some cotton and tied it my clothes horse! I always go for minimal photoshop with my photos so I left the cotton in the shot. I think it gives it an awesome dodgy Sci-Fi look anyway!

Gingerbread Men Earrings
It's that time of year again to break out the seasonal Earrings! Well these are kinda seasonal anyway.. I wore them while I helped my Mum with the traditional Honey Biscuits that we make every year (as seen in the background). I think the recipe is a German one & was her great grandmothers, so it's been in the family for a while!
I acquired these as payment for a freelance job, along with a bunch of other quirky earrings. The Gingerbread Men Earrings look delicious however I don't think they would taste very nice! I mean, not that I've tried them or anything..
Earring trivia: My Mum has a Christmas cutter in the shape of a Wolf that belonged (I think) to her great grandmother! I always insist on making 'Christmas Wolves' every year :)

Army Men Novelty Earrings
Another acquisition from Oz Horror Con 2012 in Melbourne, these awesome disfigured Army Men are another of my favorite recent novelty earring purchases! They are so cool! :D
Again this was another case of 'I need to have those earrings' as soon as I saw them! And I had just the thing in mind to photograph them.. Here is a look at the setup from today :)
I've been meaning to do this for some time now! But today was the day where the urge to play with fire took over haha!
I knew they would be coming home with me when I first saw them at the Horror Con. Their was a variety to choose from but I managed to narrow it down to these two. They were made by The Gridler a very talented jewelry maker/costume maker & cosplayer! (Seriously check out her tumblr.. http://thegridler.tumblr.com/tagged/cosplay I know where I'm going if I ever need to get a costume made!)
I had heaps of fun setting up this scene too :D Great afternoon to crank some Iron Maiden & play with turps & matches in the garden!! (You can watch some of the fun I had here!)
Earring trivia: These earrings always make me think of that scene in Terminator 2! :)

Wishbone Earrings
Last weekend I picked up what has easily become one of my new favorite pairs of earrings! What's not to love about them?! I've always been a big fan of wishbones. I'm not sure why but they are one of my favorite bones! Possibly because I am so unlucky with some many things haha. Who knows! :)
These however were more than just an internet purchase. They were lovingly hand crafted by the wonderful & very talented team at Nightshade FX! They are situated in the Wicked of Oz studio situated in Williamstown - which I was lucky enough to have a peek at when I picked up my new earrings & skull!
I'm happy to say I'm the proud owner of a few things from Nightshade FX now :) Not just the skull & earrings but also an Ulna & of course another favorite of mine - 'Hugh Morris' the Humerus bone. ( I have big plans for Hugh just as soon as I can source some more suitably sized hats & clothes!)
I'll defiantly be acquiring more of their stuff in the future because it's all so awesome!!
P.S Anyone who tries to break my wishbone earrings will get a punch in the face!
Earring trivia: The skull was molded from a real people skull! They have an array of real people/animal skulls & skeletons! Pretty cool! Check them out :)

Shed Tool Earrings
In October 2012 I attended Oz Horror Con in Melbourne where I managed to pick up a few pair of awesome earrings! Here is the first of the lot - the Shed Tool earrings!
Annnnnd here is the stall by Sophie Kells where they came from! She had a few others interesting earrings to choose from but the tools certainly grabbed my attention! The saws came in a set of two while the hammer and the pliers came as a different set.
I couldn't choose between the two sets so I bought them both! :)
Earring trivia: I ended up with 3 pairs of new earrings from the Oz Horror Con!

Earring trivia: To my knowledge none of my Novelty Earrings are vintage but I've never though to look for any. Until now anyway!

Message from the past!
I was going through a few things the other day & stumbled upon something that played a massive part in my earring collection! Pretty much the thing that started it all from the person that started it all! What I found was a little brown bag that contained my first pair of earrings (I've already written about my first pair you can read about them here) with a lovely note on it from my Uni friend Emma :)
It's almost as important as the little skeleton earrings they came with! I can't recall what I'd done or what was in the Myspace (?!) messages! What I do know is that I'll forever be grateful to Emma for getting the ball rolling. Sometimes I just need a little nudge in the right direction & amazing things can happen. So thank you Emma!
Earring trivia: Majority of earrings I receive as gifts are from people who tell me "I saw these & they made me think of you". Big thanks to all those who contribute to my collection! :)
